"Excellent modern hotel in a rustic environment"
Moden clean hotel, with bar and excellent restaurant in a very beautiful country location. Friendly staff and all English speakers. Opt for the breakfast as it includes a nice European twist with a wide choice of hot and cold meats, juices and hot drinks.

"Classy rural hotel"
This hotel is ideal if you are between towns and need an overnight break. Clean, comfortable rooms. Nice views. They also have a nice restaurant of you wish to have dinner at the location. Highly recommended!

"Great Place, great location."
Great hotel, Rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the surrounding area is quiet with lots of wildlife. Staff are friendly and helpful, Restaurant next door is also good. Ample free parking and not far from town centre. Will stay here again.

"Would prefer a more conventional bathroom"
The hotel location was exactly what we had expected: very easy to get to/from Veenendaal-West train station (by bike, in our case). I agree with some reviewers that the overall impression upon arrival is more like a Dutch care facility or a school but the receptionist was perfectly friendly. We stayed in room 107. Finally I understood what numerous previous reviewers were talking about re: the infamous sliding glass door shared by the shower and toilet. Personally, I would prefer a more conventional bathroom. Even when the door is closed, it doesn't close all the way. At least not when the toilet is occupied. Fine if only one person is in the room, and maybe for some couples it won't be a dealbreaker, but we didn't like it. We were only one floor up from the lobby, which has clean, spacious bathrooms that offer more privacy with three stalls with ceiling to floor doors, but it would be nicer to have that kind of privacy in the room itself. Other than that the room was fine for two nights. The bathtub is right there when you walk in, which was kind of funny, but I liked how the wardrobe was built into the one side, and there was plenty of room along the top to put your toiletries, keys, etc. The sink is right there in the room, too. No complaints about the beds, cozy little sitting area at the foot of the bed, excellent lighting options, functional and attractive curtains. No problems with mosquitos, flies or other unwanted guests with the windows open. The road is quite busy, however, so it wasn't quite the escape from usual city noise that we had anticipated with the windows open, but it wasn't terrible. There was plenty of birdsong to balance out the road noise. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the hallway is very hot and stuffy, but fortunately the room wasn't. Delicious organic breakfast with plenty on offer, including scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, yoghurt, berry compote, a choice of bread, cheeses, meats, fruit salad. Yes, the coffee is from a machine, but it was quite decent. Nice selection of teas and three different juices, too. The breakfast room was light, airy, spacious, view of the back lawn, friendly employees. Overall, some quirks but fun to try and a perfectly fine home base for two nights.

Amerongen Castle was built over 700 years ago for the brothers Henric and Diederic Borre. Nowadays the castle is a museum with a collection of art and antiques. The National Military Museum in Soesterberg has interesting exhibitions about the Dutch armed forces all year round. If you’re more of a train fan, head for the Railway Museum in Utrecht. For a more sweeping view of the history of the Netherlands, visit the open-air museum Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. The ‘residents’ of the museum tell extraordinary stories about daily life in the past.
